Overview

The project began with an essential question: how do you build a global brand without turning all of its expressions into one and the same thing?

Opal needed an identity that was strong enough to be recognisable in any context, yet flexible enough to allow each of its sub-brands to develop its own territory. A dental practice, a training centre, a dental laboratory and a humanitarian initiative do not speak to the same audiences or address the same needs. Each requires its own language, while remaining part of the same overarching vision.

At the same time, this brand promise needed to extend beyond the physical space. The luxury, innovation and savoir-faire that define Opal also had to be present throughout its digital universe: across the website, different communication formats and every online interaction with the brand.

This meant thinking about the experience in much broader terms. The patient journey does not begin when a patient walks into the practice, nor does it end when they leave. It starts much earlier, when they discover Opal, search for information, visit the website, explore a treatment or interact with one of its digital assets.

The challenge was to ensure that, at any of these touchpoints, patients could recognise that they were entering the Opal universe and experience the same promise of excellence and premium care. The digital experience had to live up to the physical experience.

Strategy

OPAL’s strategy has been built from a global view of the project, understanding the brand, marketing, digital environment and patient experience as different components of the same strategy. From the outset, the objective was to establish a clear position for OPAL within high-end dentistry and build a structure capable of supporting both the growth of the practice and the development of the different initiatives within the project.

The first step was to define the positioning and codes that needed to remain consistent across the entire OPAL ecosystem. The brand needed to convey a contemporary vision of dentistry, combining medical excellence, innovation, precision and a high-end experience.

From this foundation, we developed the identity and a brand system capable of maintaining a consistent perception across different contexts, from the practice’s communications to its training, laboratory and social impact projects.

This structure also needed to allow each initiative to fulfil its own role within the ecosystem. OPAL Academy was developed around education and knowledge sharing, while OPAL Atelier extends the project into laboratory work and technical precision. OPAL Humanity introduces a social dimension connected to the brand’s commitment.

Each initiative addresses a different need and audience, while sharing the same strategic foundations and a clear relationship with the master brand.

Building on this foundation, we also developed OPAL’s marketing plan, working on the brand’s presence and its different touchpoints with its audiences. The strategy needed to combine brand building and acquisition, generating long-term visibility and recognition while also making it easier for new patients to access the practice.

To achieve this, content, social media, SEO and other digital channels were developed in a coordinated way, ensuring that each action contributed to the wider strategy rather than operating independently.

The digital environment sits at the heart of this strategy. The website needed to be much more than an information platform: it had to organise the entire OPAL universe, present its treatments and services, communicate its positioning and guide users towards contacting the practice.

The architecture, content and SEO strategy were developed with both patient experience and the need to build a digital foundation capable of supporting the project’s growth in mind.

The same approach was applied to the different physical elements and materials that form part of the brand experience. Merchandising, packaging and materials such as the dental whitening box were developed as extensions of the identity rather than as isolated elements.

Likewise, the materials associated with OPAL Academy and the different communication assets needed to maintain visual and conceptual consistency across the wider ecosystem.

Content and communication also play an important role in building OPAL’s authority. The expertise of its professionals, the activity of the practice and the development of new initiatives create multiple opportunities to produce content and bring the expertise behind the project into the digital environment.

The objective is for every channel to contribute to strengthening OPAL’s positioning and progressively building relationships with patients, professionals and other audiences.

The strategy therefore goes beyond building an identity for OPAL. It brings together the different dimensions a medical brand needs to grow: positioning, brand, acquisition, content, digital and experience.

A structure robust enough to maintain a consistent perception at every touchpoint, while remaining flexible enough to support the development of the practice and the new initiatives within the OPAL ecosystem.

Results

The result is the creation of a brand and ecosystem designed to support OPAL’s long-term development. From positioning and identity to the digital environment, content and different touchpoints, the work has established a coherent foundation on which the project can continue to grow.

OPAL now has an identity capable of operating across different dimensions and a brand structure that allows new initiatives to be integrated without losing their connection to the core project.

The practice, OPAL Academy, OPAL Atelier and OPAL Humanity can each pursue their own objectives and address different audiences, while maintaining a clear relationship with the OPAL brand.

This strategy has also allowed the brand to extend beyond the practice and establish a coherent physical and digital presence. The website, SEO, content, social media, merchandising and different brand materials work as complementary touchpoints, helping to reinforce OPAL’s positioning and create a recognisable experience throughout the patient journey.

Beyond an identity or a website, OPAL now has a marketing and brand structure on which to continue building. A foundation that allows new initiatives to be developed, expands the brand’s touchpoints with its different audiences and supports the evolution of a project that continues to grow with international ambitions.
